SionicAI and HyperExcel Sign MOU to Boost AI Services
SionicAI, led by CEO Ko Seok-hyun, has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HyperExcel, headed by CEO Kim Joo-young, to jointly promote and activate AI services.
Under this agreement, the two companies will combine SionicAI’s business optimization solution, 'STORM,' and its generative AI development capabilities with HyperExcel’s AI semiconductor and server technologies specialized in large language model (LLM) inference. They aim to jointly advance the adoption and proliferation of generative AI in both domestic and international enterprises and public institutions.
According to the MOU, HyperExcel will provide hardware equipment, while SionicAI will supply software platforms and applications for companies adopting generative AI. SionicAI’s 'STORM' solution allows for customization of LLMs to suit specific business needs, facilitating the easy development and operation of AI services. HyperExcel’s 'Orion' is a server equipped with AI semiconductors specialized for LLM inference, noted for its superior processing speed and cost-performance ratio compared to NVIDIA’s GPUs.
A representative from SionicAI commented, “Despite the rapid growth of LLM and generative AI technologies, the adoption by enterprises and institutions has been slow due to technical complexity and cost issues. This collaboration will accelerate AI technology development and provide innovative solutions across various industries. Especially, with HyperExcel’s support, we can enable clients to build generative AI systems at lower costs and extend these benefits to sectors where data security is crucial, such as finance and public institutions.”
SionicAI is a startup founded by experts from Naver, Toss, and Line, specializing in optimizing LLM and generative AI technologies for businesses and providing easy-to-manage solutions.
HyperExcel, founded by Professor Kim Joo-young of KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), has developed the 'Orion' server, specialized for large-scale AI. It has successfully operated Meta's generative AI model 'Llama 3,' becoming the first in Korea to do so.
