Generative AI Startup SionicAI Secures 5.5 Billion KRW in Seed Funding
SionicAI, a generative AI startup led by CEO Ko Seok-hyun, has successfully secured 5.5 billion KRW in seed funding. The investment round saw participation from major Korean investment firms including Korea Investment Partners, Hillspring Investment, Samsung Venture Investment, and IMM Investment.
SionicAI was founded by a team with extensive experience in AI B2B (business-to-business) research, development, and planning at companies such as Naver, Toss, and Line. The company has developed its own generative AI-based business optimization solutions, 'STORM Platform' and 'STORM Answer'. Prior to this funding, SionicAI had already collaborated with generative AI service providers and AI semiconductor companies. The company has also signed business agreements with major corporations like Naver Cloud, demonstrating its potential, according to a SionicAI representative.
The representative noted, "This investment validates our technological and market competitiveness in optimizing various generative AI technologies, including large language models (LLMs), for business environments."
Sung Dong-won, Team Leader at Korea Investment Partners, who led the investment, commented, "The global demand for generative AI is rapidly growing, highlighting the importance of solutions that optimize and manage these models. We believe that a customer-friendly approach that considers cost and quality will be crucial, which is why we decided to invest in SionicAI, a startup aligned with this global trend."
Ko Seok-hyun, CEO of SionicAI, stated, "Interest in generative AI across various industries is high at the moment. We plan to leverage this investment to deliver solutions that provide real value to enterprise clients. Moreover, we aim to not only focus on AI technology development but also introduce global enterprise products that are immediately usable for our clients."
With this funding, SionicAI plans to concentrate on talent acquisition and securing equipment such as GPUs (graphics processing units). The company is also preparing to enter international markets, including Japan and Southeast Asia, as part of its strategy to expand globally.
